01

What is VoIP termination?

VoIP termination is the process of carrying a call that starts on an IP network to the number being dialed, landline or mobile, on the public telephone network. When you buy wholesale VoIP termination, a carrier receives your traffic over SIP and completes it at the destination, billing you per minute.

In the wholesale voice market, voice termination, call termination, and SIP termination describe the same business: a company with voice routes sells capacity to other companies, which resell it to their own customers. The quality of each route and the type of interconnection decide what you pay and how many calls get answered.

02

VoIP termination routes: CLI, non-CLI, TDM and GSM

Route type is the biggest decision when you buy voice termination. Here is how the common route types compare. Rozper offers CLI and non-CLI routes; availability varies by destination and is listed in the rate deck.

CLI route

Caller ID (CLI)
Delivers the caller's number intact
Quality
Highest answer rates (ASR)
Per-minute cost
Highest
Best for
Contact centers, collections, customer service, and retail VoIP, where the recipient needs to see who is calling

Non-CLI route

Caller ID (CLI)
Caller ID delivery not guaranteed
Quality
Good, varies by destination
Per-minute cost
Lower
Best for
High-volume traffic where caller ID does not change the outcome

TDM route

Caller ID (CLI)
Depends on the interconnect
Quality
Stable, no voice compression
Per-minute cost
Medium to high; needs physical circuits
Best for
Carriers with legacy infrastructure that interconnect over circuits

GSM route

Caller ID (CLI)
Shows the SIM's number, not the caller's
Quality
Unstable, liable to blocking by mobile operators
Per-minute cost
Low
Best for
Occasional use only; weigh the regulatory and blocking risk first

Which route should you choose?

  • Choose CLI when the person you call needs to recognize who is calling: collections, outbound sales, customer service, and calls to end users.

  • Choose non-CLI when volume is high, margins are tight, and caller ID does not affect the result.

  • Combine both with per-destination routing: CLI where the answer rate matters, non-CLI for the rest.

How SIP termination with Rozper works

Interconnection runs over SIP, between your switch or SBC and Rozper's SIP edge. There is no need to replace equipment: we work with standard SIP platforms.

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Traffic review

Tell us your destinations, estimated volume, and route types. We send a rate deck and terms.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    SIP interconnection

We set up authorized IPs, number format (E.164), and codecs with your switch or SBC.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Route testing

You send real traffic at controlled volume and track ASR, ACD, and PDD per destination.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Production and monitoring

Once routes are approved, traffic goes live with real-time monitoring and alerts.

How to measure voice termination quality

ASRAnswer Seizure Ratio
Answered calls as a share of call attempts. Shows whether the route completes calls.
ACDAverage Call Duration
Average length of answered calls. An unusually short ACD can point to a route problem.
PDDPost Dial Delay
Time between dialing and the destination starting to ring. Lower is better.

Protecting your interconnection

  • Fraud detection to secure your routes
  • Anomaly detection on your traffic
  • Real-time alerts for immediate action
  • Secure SIP connections with TLS and SRTP encryption
